We purchased the 60X47 desk, legal sized file box, large bookcase and 31″ peninsula from Legare and I cannot express how cool this furniture is. The quality is beyond excellent and the company was incredibly cooperative to work with!! The entire set fit together like a glove. We have plans to purchase more soon!!! THANKS LEGARE!!!

I ordered my corner desk and peninsula around 2am Monday morning and recieved them on Friday before noon. They came one from CEVA and one from FedEx – CEVA called and setup a delivery time and was 10 minutes early and fedex did what fedex does. So, A+ on delivery – they even put the cartons in the garage for me since one was 190 lbs.

The parts were all in good shape – and by parts I think there were 10 today for the desk and 5 for the peninsula. Setup was as easy as they claim. I think it took me about 15 minutes to carry the parts upstairs and about 10 minutes to put both together.

The desk feels solid and fit and finish is very good.

I am thinking about ordering more pieces to finish off my office – maybe a bookcase and some rolling files.

Just for grins I took the desk apart and tried it on a different wall with the long side going another way. Did not work well so I put it back – 20 minutes to play around with the layout – never could you do this with other desk.

Highly recommend – the hardest parts of this desk order was picking a color and putting my computers back in place.

Things to get used to – no drawers, but I have some baskets on a shelf and they work really well.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1WN30XIO7J1AC Legare Furniture … without doubt, the coolest furniture on the planet. It assembles out of the box in less than 3 minutes with no tools, no hardware and no headache! Check out this video where Brock Brandenberg (Legare’s designer) disassembles the Legare 42″ corner desk, reverses the shelves and desktop, and changes it from a two-tone oak/espresso finish into a solid espresso finish in less than 1 minute … utterly amazing!!! All panels are finished on both sides, so you can flip the top or shelf to double the life of the product for years and years of use. Sturdy interlocking tab & slot assembly is based on a patented “forcing function” concept whereby each step in the assembly locks the preceding step in place … it will literally hold hundreds of pounds of weight … a rock solid design with tons of user friendly features like adjustable shelving, asymmetric reversibility, cable managment, modularity, portability, and the list goes on and on. This product is one of the finest values on Amazon.com!

I purchased this corner desk, the peninsula, and a narrow bookcase in expresso finish. The box arrived with a few dents from CEVA but I didn’t think the damage was able to reach the panels since there was plenty of styrofoam (unfortunately, there was a small dent, but it was on the reverse side of the configuration). All three pieces were very easy to assemble by myself and the ash veneer is very nice, though the expresso finish is much darker in person than in the amazon photo (the Legare photos are closer to what the finish looks like in person).

Desk is very stable and has a nice modern look to it. I’m only giving the desk 4 stars because the curviture of the L-desk makes it narrower in some positions that limits my options for placing my dual 24″ monitor set up. The assorted holes in the desk surface and the interior were nice for hiding long runs of wires though.

Also, be prepared to not have drawers. I was aware of the desk not having any and will be looking for other storage options to add to the desk.

This is a great piece of furniture. I assembled it in about 30 seconds more than it took the guy in the product video. This was not very well packaged, however no pieces were damaged, so I have no complaints there. It is so easy to put together, and has a very modern look. I plan on buying more to extend my work area.

I have since moved and this held up very well. The surface resists scratches, rings from soda cans, abuse by cats, you name it. The cable management is well-designed. I have ‘reversed’ from the original configuration, so this is very versatile for placing in the home office.

I have a 17″ laptop on a docking station and 2 19″ LCD monitors on the desk surface (w 2 keyboards + mice), all fit easily and it is not cramped. The larger of the storage areas accomodates my mini-tower very well with room to spare for airflow and cables.

Everyone who has seen this has commented on how cool this looks.

Highly recommended!!

I’d like to give it 3 stars — but really have to give it 4 stars for the price. It is amazingly beautiful — as far as the frosted glass door, modern curved handles, and style. The high quality of hinges for the door was suprising. But it is what it is — press board covered with a paper image of wood. The same day I assembled it, I had a piece of transparent tape on the desk for just a few seconds and it pulled up the “wood”. I covered the mars with wood filler and it’s not too noticeable. The assembly takes a while, but every piece is labeled with a letter/number that makes it almost fool proof. However my manual was missing pages and I had to have Bush fax the manual — they don’t have a PDF on-line. As with most assembly required furniture I have experience with, the holes for the door were not placed correctly to line the door with the drawer — I re-drilled and wood filled the pre-drilled holes. Not off much — probably would only bother 1 anal person out of 10. It’s a very nice design and is working out well for what I needed — a sewing table and computer table that takes minimal space in my guest room.

My wife and I have had this desk for 3 years now. We bought it from a national office supply chain store for $140 and it wasn’t even worth that much. Let me explain why…

Pros:

1) Cheaper than a real wood desk of similar size

2) Looks appealing to the eye once assembled

3) Plenty of drawer and surface space for the average home office

4) Directions are easy to understand and follow

Cons:

1) Incredibly HEAVY. Once you put it together, I hope you never have to move it. If you do, you must almost completely disassemble it. If you try moving it as one piece, even to a different spot in the room, you WILL break it. Either the assembly screws will snap, or the particleboard pieces themselves will crack/break.

2) A cheap paper “wood” pattern covers the whole thing. If you don’t use a coaster EVERY time you place a drink on it, it WILL warp and degrade the surface. Also, a mouse pad is required when computing. Otherwise, the natural oils and/or sweat from your hand will cause the surface to deteriorate and warp as well.

3) The top piece curves out toward the user, which may be uncomfortable for some people who like to scoot up to the desk and keep their keyboard on top instead of using the sliding tray. It forces you to sit back farther than you may like, making the monitor harder to see at a distance. If you have a beer gut (which I don’t), I would imagine it would be even more uncomfortable.

4) The space on the left where you are supposed to put your computer tower is too small to accommodate many modern cases. Also, if your mouse and keyboard cords aren’t a mile long or have extensions, they will have a hard time reaching from the desk surface down to the tower.

5) Finally (and probably most importantly), you should NOT store your tower in the dedicated space, even if it fits. Heat is like Kryptonite to a computer, and placing it in a confined space that’s enclosed on 5 sides and has zero air circulation is NOT a wise idea, particularly if you have a high-end machine that produces more heat than your average system. We use this compartment to store blank media, printing paper and other miscellaneous things and have our tower located to the right of the desk (not under it) so that it gets proper air circulation.

When we saw this desk assembled in the store, it looked quite impressive and seemed well built. However, let me just say that when we move next month, this thing will NOT be coming with us. I’ll be taking the time and effort to build a new desk out of REAL wood for us to enjoy.

I hope this review helped you in your decision.

When assembled, the desk looks just as pictured. Assembly was fairly easy, but took novice people such as ourselves approximately 4-5 hours to assemble. Instructions were only pictures with no written directions, so this took a little time to get used to. The desk is of decent quality, is sturdy, is very functional and fits well into a normal sized/smaller room.

Actually we bought this desk twice. In our old house we HAD to get a coner desk and my husband loved it so much, we bought it again, this time for the both of us. We have a 10×10 office and we need our own space. These were great- we have them back to back heading out from the wall instead of in the corners. My tower is too bulky for the cabinet, so we removed the door and it still looks nice.

The only cons with these desks, is #1 they do not move. Once they are together they are staying in the room. You can move it to clean, but not bring them, let’s say, upstairs. #2 con, don’t get it wet! It is made of paper so use a coaster or your top coat will melt away. Also, don’t use tape or any repetative scraping…that also takes off the paper coat. All in all, great desk lots of space and a perfect fit.

For disposable furniture this is a wonderful desk. As long you don’t have to move it (house move) then it should last a long time. As with all compressed wood furniture it can not be moved without breaking it.

I am very happy with it and would buy it again. Assembly price was more then a few hours, but I was by myself and was preoccupied doing this among other things.
